Exhaling Through Words

Blossom; Find words in whichever way they come to you

Wearing the heart on your sleeve is frightening. Dust and storms may come and toss it into the dirt. Throw it into the darkness.

A better option is to talk your heart out. I’ve not always been a talker. Growing up, I was the quiet kid in the corner who responds to everything with a smile. Talking your heart out begins with finding the words.

Sometimes words find you, especially if your instinct is to grab a pen and write something. At times, you find words to talk about others. Fantastical stories of different worlds with people who are quite unlike yourself.

Fiction is the second way to talk your heart out. Have you ever seen yourself in character and identified with their pain? Or gravitate towards a certain kind of heartache because the pain tastes familiar?

The heart begs you to express it.

Conversations in the safety of true friendship is a gift. In the moments where we can’t find the words, our friends speak on our behalf and their presence sits with us. For the times we can’t stop talking, they sit, smile and enjoy our blossom.

So blossom. Find the words in whichever way they come to you. Read, sing, dream or dance your way to the depths of your life.

Find yourself anew each day. Enjoy the surprising layers of you and lean into those that make you feel large.

You’re an expansive universe. Lean into the light and spread your wings.
